Maybe you've always wanted to be a Civil Guard, or maybe it's a wish you discovered recently. What matters is that now you know that you want to dedicate yourself to this profession and you have become interested in the requirements you need to achieve it. To be able to be a civil guard, the first requirement is to pass some competitive examinations.

Next we are going to tell you some things you should know in order to be a civil guard and that you can work on what you like for the rest of your life. Do not lose detail.

Be a civil guard

You need to pass some competitive examinations with places called in free competition-opposition. Membership in the Corps of the Civil Guard, Scale of Cabos and Guards belongs to group C2. Ideally, you should prepare physically but also, for the theoretical part, go to a specialized academy so that it prepares you well to be able to pass the oppositions.

The oppositions

To prepare for the oppositions, the ideal is that you go to an academy and they train you with a complete and updated syllabus. You can do it in person or remotely, depending on your interests. In your training it will be a good idea to do simulations of the Civil Guard oppositions, so you can evaluate your skills in the face of the real tests you want to take. You will need to have graduated from ESO and not reach 40 years of age to be able to present yourself.

Testing

The tests are divided into different parts that you need to know in order to prepare them well.

First test

  • Orthography. 10 minute written test.
  • Knowledge. Quiz of 100 questions on different topics. The test time is 1 hour and a half. If a minimum of 50 points is not obtained, it is left out of the selection process.
  • Foreign language. 20-question questionnaire in English. The test lasts 20 minutes. A minimum score of 8/20 must be achieved.
  • Psychotechnical. Assessment of mental capacity through an assessment of intellectual abilities and a personality profile assessment.

Second test (physical tests)

  • Speed ​​test (60 meter track)
  • Muscular endurance (2000 meters track)
  • Upper body extensor test (push-ups)
  • Swimming test (50 meters freestyle)

Civil Guard

Third test

  • Personal interview (even if everything is perfect, you have to pass this test)

Fourth test

  • Medical examination.

Requirements

To present yourself for the Civil Guard examinations, you will also need to meet a series of requirements:

  • Have Spanish nationality
  • Be 18 years of age or older and have not turned 41 within the year of the call
  • Accredit good citizen behavior
  • Not be deprived of civil rights
  • Have no criminal record
  • Not having been disqualified from public functions or separated by disciplinary proceedings from the service of any of the Public Administrations
  • Possess good psychophysical aptitude

In addition, it is important that some of the following requirements in the Spanish Educational System are met to access the teachings leading to vocational training cycles of Medium Degree:

  • Have a graduate of ESO or a higher academic level
  • Have passed the compulsory modules of an initial professional qualification program.
  • Have passed the entry test to intermediate or higher FP or the university test for those over 25 years of age
  • Have a degree contemplated in article 18 of Royal Decree 1147/2011, of July 29, which establishes the general organization of professional training in the educational system.

Also, the following should be taken into account:

  • Commitment to carry weapons and, if necessary, to use them
  • Have a class B driving license
  • Do not have tattoos that contain expressions or contrary images to the constitutional values, authorities or military virtues, that suppose disgrace to the uniform, that may threaten the discipline or the image of the Civil Guard in any of its forms, that reflect obscene motives or incite discrimination of a sexual or racial nature, ethnic or Civil Guard whose name, composition and use is included in General Order No. 12, of December 28, 2009 (Official Gazette of the Civil Guard, No. 1, of January 12, 2010).
  • Height: men between 160 and 203 centimeters, and women between 155 and 203 centimeters.
  • Military personnel in the troop category may also present themselves to the oppositions. and professional seamen of the Armed Forces who have been in effective service for at least five years and who have not completed their commitment on the date of the end of the presentation of instances.
