The Minister of Science and innovation, Cristina Garmendia, and Dtor. General de La Caixa, Joan María Nin, were very satisfied last Monday, the 18th, in Barcelona, ​​at the official delivery of the Research grants that have been awarded to a total of 40 Biomedicine students, in order for them to participate in the ambitious projects of Spanish institutions such as the National Cancer Research Center, the Biomedical Research Institute, the National Biotechnology Center and the Genomic Regulation Center, as announced by La Caixa on its own website.

According to Garmendia, with these aids it is intended to discover research talents that can be competitive in their area, as well as become the best ambassadors for Spain, referring to the team of national students who have been selected for said Scholarships. He stressed that we are living through a difficult period, and that it is very important, even in these times, to have quality research programs. Our values ​​have had to compete with students from all over the world.

The good news continues with data provided for participation in the three editions called to date. Although in its first location an estimated 775 applications were reached, this number has grown exponentially to more than 1400. It is also worth noting that there is still one last call, that of 2012, in which the number of applications is also expected to increase considerably. In total, the financial institution The Caixa will have invested at the end of said program Research grants, a total of 18,4 million euros.

The students who have obtained those of this 2011 edition will have a monthly net total of 1500 euros for 24 months, and 1700 for the next 24 months. They will also have travel expenses covered.
