A high level of education protects the elderly against depression

Depression is one of the enfermedades harsher emotional stresses that exist inasmuch as many times, the environment does not understand the ill of the patient. Depression is a degree of deep sadness suffered for a long time. A recent study that has been carried out by the University of Lleida shows that having a high level of studies prevents elderly women from the possibility of suffering from depression.

This study has taken into account the gender difference since a few generations ago, the men they had more options than women to continue with their training. They, on the contrary, were more linked to the role of housewives. In their case, it is the fact of having a partner and company that marks a very positive point in the fight against depression.

The study has been led by the professor Miguel Angel Escobar within the Nursing department of the University of Lleida. This study shows how important knowledge is in all areas of life, also emotionally, since knowledge favors introspection.

On the positive side, it should be noted that any moment is good for back to study. In fact, more and more people after retirement decide to spend their time studying at university again. Undoubtedly, there are older people who, despite not having studied, have not only a great life experience but are also very wise because they have been self-taught and have read many books.
