Due to this, this organization of businessmen has summoned the public administrations to invest in active employment policies achieve that the unemployed, especially the long-term, qualify enough to be competitive in the world of work.
CEOE also reports that the arrival of the crisis has killed off the lowest-skilled jobs that in the islands has always concentrated on the construction sector, which is the one that has traditionally always absorbed many young people who, faced with the temptation of relatively easy money they enrolled in construction and left their formal studies.
With the data available from the CEOE it is also found that the percentage of the unemployed with higher education has remained stable throughout the crisis and that it has not increased significantly in the 3 years that it has lasted.
That unemployment is lower among university graduates is due to their higher qualification and the possibility of accessing, in case of becoming unemployed, to a greater range of jobs than those who can access the poorly educated population. For this reason, the CEOE underlines the need for Canaries to train if they want to get off the unemployment lists.
