As we already told you in the previous article, sometimes there are cases of Power abuse by a teacher and in these situations the student or students are often faced with a complicated mission if they want to demonstrate unfair behavior on the part of the teacher. But all is not always lost, there are means to argue the facts and not leave the case unsolved.

How to act in the face of an excess of a teacher

What situations describe these negligence? As we already mentioned, they refer to insults, lack of respect, use of physical violence… in short, clearly a complete abuse of authority and tyranny that frightens and undermines the self-esteem of the students. These teaching methods They could be used a few years ago, where punishments were imposed on reason, but -before and now- inconceivable situations result, and rights must be asserted to tackle this archaic mentality.

Given the evidence of a fact of these characteristics, the first step is arrange an interview where the tutor and director of the center are present. A very important aspect to consider is that, normally, several people will be asked to corroborate what is being presented, which will require that other students have to comment. It must be taken into account that the unanimity of opinions will give more value to what is exposed. It will also be normal for the decision to make a confrontation between both parties (classroom / teacher), and it is to a certain extent understandable since the highest authority of the center needs to know all the possible versions.

In the end, the truth will be proven, but it will be based on fighting for it to be properly clarified. Remaining silent only allows an unfair situation that can continue to be repeated. In the same way as school they do not always have all the rights and their behavior must be controlled, teachers are not always in possession of the truth and educational method more appropriate.

The thing is, according to the teacher, the dyslexia report did not reach her, she has suspended all her jobs, she told her to read more and learn to write, that we Spaniards do not know and that is why foreigners take our jobs, etc. He put topics that were not going to tell.
      This teacher has an honors degree in her art history career and is teaching us the sociocultural dimension of tourism, there is a certain relationship and she is qualified, but she only gives us videos in English with subtitles, she does not share her power points and those that are presented for evaluation only do not know that they should study.

      Well, it is not little, but I tell all this because I really do not know if it is an abuse of power or the anger that he has towards the Spanish and the discrimination that is loaded on him.

    My circumstances are different from typical cases, because it was in a class with a varied student body in terms of ages, but with a lot of predominance of still adolescent people, «ignorant» in the good sense of the word (sometimes also in the bad sense) and that many were not there precisely to learn, but to get a degree trying as little as possible and living on income. In this environment, the teachers who belonged to that cycle also tended to protect each other through cronyism, favors and also family relationships.
    One of the teachers, the worst of all, committed irresponsible use of personal information with me. At the beginning of the course, he gave us all a questionnaire to fill in personal information on affiliation: age, address, e-mail, date of birth ... I did not mind giving them, trusting that they would be used well. He put them in his tablet database for evaluations and stuff. Three students who were the most annoying in class and who bothered me a lot asked that teacher some information that I did not want to give it to them because they were not my trust and no matter how banal that information is, with the immaturity they had , what they were going to do was use it against me to continue disrespecting me. That teacher told those people my age, which was what they wanted to know, and he agreed to tell them by consulting his tablet. Obviously, I was right so living with that group of people and some others became unbearable due to their immaturity, and worst of all, said teacher conveyed that the concept of confidentiality does not exist and that anything goes to achieve what you want. I was not present when that event occurred, but they themselves confessed how they found out.
    In the following course I did witness how he did something similar with the information on the tablet. A colleague of mine wanted to know if such a day was the birthday of another student because he had told him that he was going to celebrate it and thus avoid a group assignment. Neither short nor lazy he asked that professor if that day was really his birthday and he, consulting the database, said yes. I had told my partner in a subtle way that I could not find out that information that way since there is something called confidentiality and that it is not for public use, and that he should not do that either. My partner ignored me, ignoring what I told him.
    But the matter with this professor does not end here with the issue of confidentiality. Well, it exerted psychological pressure on me, disrespecting my will and my exercise of individual freedom. In 2nd year I did not want to buy personalized clothing from the cycle they had commissioned to do, because I had already bought in 1st year and it seemed silly to spend on that again. Despite having my freedom and being somewhat voluntary, he held my decision in my face because we all had to be dressed the same.
    He is a person who criticizes everything and meddles a lot in the lives of others. In his classes it was common for him to take breaks where he would talk about any topic, almost always sports, which was what our cycle was about. He disparaged anyone he did not look favorably on, either because he was different from him in his way of thinking and acting, or he did not do what he wanted. He spoke ill of media characters, but he also spoke ill of colleagues from other promotions, from the other year of the cycle and even fellow professionals from the same center (but not from the training cycle). Then he bragged about being a tolerant, assertive and politically correct person. Curiously, in 1st year he did not have time to finish the entire syllabus of one of his subjects. Why would it be?
    The worst part was that, in a way, this teacher persuaded the students with his jokes. And like I said at the beginning, most people were there more to hang out and have fun than to learn. To put it in a way, he followed their wave so that they would gain his trust. With some he already had a friendship relationship before teaching them in the cycle, as he was with the delegate in 2nd year who was his close friend and they even had their phone numbers and they communicated much more frequently than as a student-teacher, such as close friends. Curiously, the 2nd grade delegate was over 40 years old and for his age he was very immature even though he sometimes wanted to be mature, and he also went with a funny attitude. He acted in the same style as that teacher. Sometimes I saw that he empathized too much with people with a lot of colleagues and those of us who did not have the same way of being bullied us, criticizing us, pointing the finger at us for being different, making us look bad in front of everyone and as liars or that we were wrong with everything we said and manipulating the truth at will.
    I even considered the possibility of changing centers due to all the damage that had been done to me, but it was complicated for me because of the timetables and parking at the other institute. And I needed the title to get to work soon. Many times I came home with a headache and one day so fed up I was given to write as a query about whether it was correct or not, telling the Ministry of Education about the matter of confidentiality. I had not told everything in detail because more to consult than to report, since something like this is serious and first he wanted to inform me to know if I was right. Some time later an inspector was sent by surprise. It was in 1st. Before that, he spoke privately with the delegate at the time, asking him about what data that professor requested at the beginning of the course. Then he spoke to me, through the mail he had sent and I told what happened. The inspector agreed with me that it was a misuse of the data. Since all that caught me off guard, I don't know if I was right to betray the teacher. Well, I was afraid that the remedy would be worse than the disease because I was abusing power. And that's why in the end I didn't do it, even though I wanted to. And if he knew what he had to live unfairly after, yes he would have. As it coincided that the delegate left just as I was about to enter, he related the inspector's visit to me and told more classmates about what had happened. They more or less knew what the matter was about. There the head of studies acted badly by not taking all that into consideration and calling me just at that moment. Since most of the people were in league with that teacher, they started bulling me and in a practical class of him, many had agreed to sabotage it. I don't know if he would have suggested it, but knowing him wouldn't surprise me.
    In 2nd year, before confinement in a class of his where he had put us as an exercise to do a 5-minute monologue, when he finished exposing me and another classmate he intimidated us in front of the whole class about aspects of our personal life than anyone else If I had a problem with someone, I would discuss it in private. And yet it is still an attitude that for me exceeds the capabilities of a teacher. But he did it in front of everyone to reaffirm his ego and make himself look politically correct. To my other colleague because he was a soldier, he told him that he did not believe anything he said and that he came to the cycle to show himself in front of everyone with his stunts. And he told him a typical insult of his "chorero" land. And he ended up telling him that he was telling him all this assertively. And he told me that he was a very reserved person who did not want my age to be known (alluding to the event that occurred). And then he told me what I was doing here in this cycle and what would I plan to do when I finished. He hinted that I was worthless related to that cycle (and I was not the first to say this to a person). He also disrespected me as an entrepreneur who was training myself on my own in matters and was building projects on the Internet. Saying that all this is nonsense and is not worth a living, despite the fact that in that cycle there was a business and entrepreneurship course. At that moment I regretted more than ever that I had not confessed his name to the inspector. He was hallucinating with his attitude and he hated that all people saw his behavior as normal.
    I could continue telling many more things about him and one of his colleagues, because it is almost enough to write a book.
    Now that I have finally ended my relationship with that teacher and some more toxic ones and I am away from that hell, I am finally considering the possibility of telling everything for inspection. I am not one of the people who like to go around with lawsuits and all that, but I consider that I suffered a lot in terms of damage to my dignity and it seems unfair that everything has to go unpunished and make a clean slate. And that as a teacher for me it has been a failure for the students in the transmission of values ​​such as confidentiality, respect, tolerance, effort, improvement and learning, making them believe that life is a joke and that anything goes to achieve anything.
