Requirements to access the National Police

The requirements to be able to access the National Police force are the following:

  • Be Spanish.
  • Be of legal age and not exceed the retirement age.
  • Not have been convicted of any type of crime.
  • Not being included in any of the causes of exclusion, both physical and psychological.
  • Commitment to be able to carry weapons, while using them.
  • Have a minimum size of 1,65 for men and 1,60 for women.
  • Have a type B driving license.
  • Have a Bachelor's degree or another equivalent.

How to apply

To submit applications to the National Police positions, You have 15 business days from the day after the places are published in the BOE Enrollment will be done through the application form for admission to selective entry tests in the National Police in the following two ways:

Evidence of the selection process for the National Police

In relation to the selection process, it will consist of three qualifying tests.

The first test is of a physical nature and it will consist of performing a series of physical exercises that we detail below:

  • The first exercise seeks to measure the agility of movements of the person. It consists of traveling the distance of 100 meters in less than 11,7 seconds for men and 12,8 seconds for women. If the person exceeds this time, he is declared unfit.
  • The second exercise seeks to measure the strength and endurance of the person. In the case of men, they should perform as many pull-ups as possible and in the case of women, hold out as long as possible in the pull-up position.
  • The third exercise seeks to measure the organic resistance of the opponents.

Each exercise is scored from 0 to 10, having to reach 5 points to be able to pass the physical part.

The second test seeks to measure the knowledge and spelling of the opponents. This test consists of two eliminatory exercises:

  • First you have to answer 100 multiple choice questions in 50 minutes. You have to get at least 5 points to be eligible.
  • The second exercise is used to evaluate the level of spelling that the person has. It takes 5 points for the test.

The last test will consist of three eliminatory parts:

  • Medical examination in which the person will be qualified as suitable or not suitable.
  • A personal interview to assess whether the person is qualified to be part of the Higher Body of the National Police. After evaluating the different factors, the Court will classify the person as suitable or unfit.
  • The last test will consist of a psychotechnical test to assess whether the person has the necessary aptitudes to be part of the National Police force. If the person succeeds in passing this test, they will be considered suitable and may be part of the National Police.

The people who apply to this selection process, will have the option of voluntarily taking a test to assess language skills. You can choose between taking an English or French test and obtaining two points to add to the final grade of the process.
