University fees in Spain

Much has been said lately that Spanish university students are the Europeans who pay the most to studyBut how much truth is there in all that? Recently a news item came out stating that Spaniards paid 20 times more to study at university than Germans… An overwhelming and horrible figure to be true. That is why we wanted to analyze how university fees are in Spain in order to draw our own conclusions.

We must also remember that the cost of each university credit varies depending on the chosen career or degree. Generally, science and engineering degrees are more expensive than letters.

What is the average price?

The average price obtained from a university tuition in Spain is currently 1.100 euros. If this is compared to the average price that Germans must pay for registration, of 50 euros, it is laughable or crying! An embarrassing fact of how our politicians treat us in general, and the ministry of education in particular ...

Later, if we delve into the differences between autonomous communities, it is to continue to be amazed: Catalonia this course is the Autonomous Community with the most expensive undergraduate tuition (2.011 euros) against Galicia (713 euros). Catalonia is followed by the Community of Madrid (1.638 euros) and Castilla y León (1.400 euros) or the Valencian Community (1.223 euros).

As we can see, an unstoppable rise that only this year had a certain drop in the cost of university credit, but which is still light years away from the economic amount paid by our European neighbors.

Solo two autonomous communities have frozen these university fees during the crisis: Asturias and Galicia. Faced with this, we have politicians who affirm that these increases will have no consequences in terms of the student development of our young people, and that they will not cause dropouts ... And I ask: when you have to choose between eating every day or paying for a career, do our politicians They would be clear that they would eat credits, right?
