What is an Individual Training Permit (PIF)?

individual training permit

It is a permit granted by the company to its workers to attend official courses during their working hours. It is a right that all workers have. In addition, it is an opportunity for all companies because, in the current context, only competitive companies remain and that bet on the professional and personal development of their workers.

What requirements must the training have for a worker to apply for a PIF? It has to be recognized through:

-Official accreditation: issued by the competent administration and published in the BOE.

-Official title: issued by educational administrations, valid throughout Spain and published in the BOE.

-Professional Training Titles and Certificates of Professionalism.

-Accreditation of competences for the exercise of a trade and an occupation.

-Have a technical-professional character, or at least improve the worker's personal skills.

- Be during working hours, although it is also allowed to discount the face-to-face hours of courses in mixed mode. This information will be justified by presenting the calendar and school hours of the course as well as the worker's working hours.

- A minimum number of hours is not required for the PIF request, but there are maximums that depend on the average workforce of the company.

On the other hand, the advantages of the PIF are the following:

  • Improvement of the professional and personal skills and qualifications of workers.
  • Stimulates motivation and increases employee loyalty to the company.
  • Talent is retained in the company.
  • The company receives from the Tripartite Foundation the amount of the salary plus the corporate Social Security fee, for the hours of the working day that the worker attends face-to-face courses.
  • No co-financing or private contribution from the company is required
