Why you should avoid work overload

workaholic

When it comes to adult life it seems that work should be the center of all people, leaving aside everything else. However, the reality is that people and emotional well-being is far more important than all of this. If you feel stressed or do not perform well at work, you are always tired or moody, It is possible that you have an overload of work that does not let you be well at all.

It seems that overwork has become a recurring theme among young people starting their careers ... it seems that someone who starts a job must work more than 100 hours a week ... but, of course ... there is no body or mind that can bear that, taking into account that in a week there are 168 hours. Is it really worth having a continuous work overload?

The answer is no. If you really want to be productive, perform at your job and continue to like what you do, then work overload should not be among your priorities. Next I am going to give you a series of reasons for you to take it into account and that the next time you have an overload of work, know that you should not do so much and that your emotional health is affected.

No one is going to die if you don't work today

Unless you work in a hospital, your work after 8 hours is fine ... no one will die because you rest - and it is a well-deserved rest. The world is going to keep turning. Working 12 or 16 hours may have financial compensation, but if you do not enjoy your life and replenish energy, then ... is it really worth it?

workaholic

Although you may love your work and are in a state of flux all the time, the truth is that to continue like this you must also take breaks ... and it must be within the daily discipline. If you work too much you can miss out on many things in your life, like spending time with your loved ones or with your family.

The company you work for is a business

You may feel involved in working within your company, but it is a business after all. This means that you should not invest your personal time in your work, because the things that happen in life: birthdays, parties, afternoons with friends ... will not be repeated and your work cannot give it to you. You are not an emotionless robot, you must allow yourself to enjoy your own time.

You are expendable

Anyone can be replaced ... whether you work in a company or if you have your own. Companies require your skills to make a profit without spending too many resources. They don't care who you are, at the end of the day, you are just another number on their accounts.

The ideal is to find a small or medium-sized company where you can demonstrate your value and grow. Small and medium-sized businesses take better care of their employees because they treat them as real human beings and not as resources that can be shed at any time.

It's okay to say no

It is a common mistake to think that if you say that you will not give a bad image to colleagues or superiors and what you want is to please them to keep your job. But what will happen is that your work will expand but you will stay the same. Saying that it is not something you should do in order not to work on what is not your turn or to avoid getting into trouble.

leave or not work

If you say no, to avoid uncomfortable situations you can offer an alternative. Also, if you always agree with everyone, you will end up looking boring and uncreative. Everyone is looking for that employee who shines ... but you must shine for yourself. If they demand tasks that go against your ethics and principles, you should say no.

Work overload will never be a good companion for your physical and emotional health. If you want to be a good worker, grow and have goals that you really achieve, then you should know that you need to rest and take care of yourself on a personal level. You come first, and then… reach for everything else.
